How often do you wash your hair?Once a week or once a fortnight, people who are more active should wash once a week. Make sure to wash in the mornings and allow to air dry as it can be uncomfortable sleeping with wet hair.
-
How do I take out my braids? If it has extensions simply cut the ends ( after your hair) and unravel please do not retun the used hair, we use new hair each and every time. For box braids again cut the ends just after your hair carfully not cutting own hair, use a tail end comb or nails to unravel each braid, please allow enough time could take upto 2/3 hours. highly reccomend combing or seperating each section as you go before washing, wash with conditioner first to soften, then shampoo to clean and then condition to finish. You can re book straight away after taking them out.

Can I swim with braidsFor corn rows or 2 rows we Do not recommend swimming as it will get messy quickly, for box braids its ok to swim but dont recommend it fequently.
-
How do you wash your hair when it’s in braids?Washing is NOT recommended for corn rows or any style that is short term. With box braids wash as normal in the shower but small amount of shampoo and conditioner, be sure not to scrub too hard on the scalp as it can result to your braids feeling loose (mainly for straight hair), wash fortnightly or less ( if you can handle it) recommend you wash in the morning so it can air dry. Towel dry.
-
How long should I keep my braids in for?All recommeded times are under the description according to the style. 2 months is recommended duration for box braids to be left in, for straight/ short hair 5-8 weeks. Protective styling is meant to be short-term/ temporary. Any longer than that and your new growth will stretch and be damage; this completely negates the point of protective styling. Protective styling is to give your fragile ends a break and focus on attaining new growth, also taking out you braids will be more difficult if left in for to long.

How do you keep your braids fresh? You'll thank me when you unravel your braids and your hair is healthy, strong, and long. Protect your hair at when sleeping by wrapping with a durag (sold at Eden Stylz) or a silk scarf. Keep your scalp moist by adding oils (not alot for straight hair) Avoid unnatural products when keeping hair moisturized. Wash your braids once every two weeks. (for box braids) Avoid constant up-dos.

What type of hair extensions are used? + What does hair oil do?Extensions: Eden Stylz predominantly uses Abuja Darling synthetic braiding extension. From Kenya, great quality, super light and pre feathered. It comes in a range of colours and can also be used for extra length and shorter braids. It is a hot water finish. We also use the xpression and New York Synthetic braiding extensions for all those bright colours that you all love! again super light and great quality. (unfortunately we do not pastel colours) Hair Oil: Hair oil or moisturizers keep our hair and scalp moist to prevent dandruff or dry scalp. Please DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT put oil on your scalp when having box braids or corn rows and go out in direct sun for a long period of time as it will burn your scalp. recommended oils are coconut oil, argan oil, jamaican tea tree oils or olive oils. (not to much for straighter hair)

What should I do with my hair BEFORE getting box braids? Before box braids hair care is different for different textures. If you have straight hair please wash thoroughly and come to your appointment with 1 or 2 day unwashed hair (no gel, hair spray or wax) If you have soft curly hair wash the day before and moisturise as normal please let it dry.(no gel, hair spray or wax) For very kinky afro hair please wash, moisturise and blow out / stretch and have it well combed out before attending your appointment to make sectioning easier and pain free. (our time is allocated for styling not for preping)
